This allows you to get an accurate destination of your target without having to dig into a large area. I'm just stating my overall thoughts on it.Ī metal detector pin pointer is basically a smaller, handheld metal detector that will laser in on a target at close proximity. I would prefer it if it were a faster beep the closer you get to the target, and then a solid-on tone when you touch the target. Also, I don't like that when it is as close as it can be to the target (physically touching it) it is a fast beep instead of a solid, steady-on tone. Might sound a little nit picky of me, but it really does make the process of pulling it out, using it, and then turning it off and putting it away, more time consuming. Then you have to hold the button down for like 3 seconds (actually more like 5) to turn it off. On this one, each single press and release of the button cycles through the 3 modes (beep, vibrate, beep&vibrate) and stays on in that mode. I would like it more if it worked instantly, and only when you hold the button down. It works fine, but I don't particularly care for the way it operates. I gave it 4 stars instead of 3 because of it's price as compared to some of the others I've seen go for over $100. I can say that paying $19-26 depending on the sale price you can buy 2 and have a Spare for less than 1/2 price of the general $119-135 of a mainstream manufacturer like Garrett, Fisher, Minelab & others.įrom my initial experience I would definitely buy this model Pinpointer again. I also can’t speak for its long term reliability since I’ve only owned it 2 weeks. Some people found adding some additional silicone sealant around those two areas can help protect it. From online reviews of most similar pinpointers they tend to leak around the switch and the speaker. I haven’t tried it and don’t generally detect near water. He was very surprised that it detected the metal plates & screws holding 4 levels of my lower spine together. When I’m detecting and he’s with me I use the large detector then he goes in with the pointer to pinpoint the final location. It’s so easy to use my grandson who just turned 7 figured it out right out of the box. It came with the Pinpointer, a starter generic Chinese 9V battery, a coiled springy wrist lanyard, a belt holster & instructions. Unless you are detecting at night this is not very useful feature. During the day most people believe this is a battery drainer and kind of useless, it’s not that bright. When it is on there is a small bright white LED that is supposed to be for helping you find items in a dark hole. The closer you get to a detectable piece of metal the faster the beeps or vibrations are. It will either beep or vibrate depending on your selection. I watched YouTube reviews and read Amazon Reviews and decided on this Generic Chinese Pointer a copy of the Garrett Carrot □ I honestly do not know how to pronounce the name PudiBe, seems to be a silly name. After watching many many YouTube videos on metal detecting I realized I needed a Pinpointer. I was able to pick up a used detector for just $35. I’m on a limited income so I needed to get into detecting on a budget. I’ve wanted a metal detector for 50 years. Note, you must hold down the PinPoint button for use.I’m new to metal detecting. Having PinPoint will help you home in on the target and dig up less dirt with a smaller hole as sensitivity is increased. This takes some practice as you essentially have to outline an area for a large object or create an X to mark the location with the object at its center. PinPoint mode is an integrated feature that allows the searchcoil to find the precise location of the detected object. For example, if you want to focus on coins, you can set the DISC to discriminate items with target IDs of 50 and less to spend more time finding dimes and quarters. The DISC mode is where you can discriminate trash items and iron signals from being heard to spend more time finding good items. When you find an object in All Metal, you can use DISC or PinPoint modes to acquire more information or its precise location. All Metal is a non-discriminatory mode, so you will hear audio for all types of metal objects detected. The three search modes on the RicoMax are All Metal, DISC, and PinPoint. ![]()
